Problem

The problem which has been discussed in this article “The experiences of inactive nurses returned to nursing after completing a refresher course” is the shortage of experienced and skilled nurses in United States. The number of the skilled nurses is shortening in United States which is the biggest problem for nursing sector. Therefore, there is a great need of refresher courses in order to increase the experience of inactive nurses (Yancy, 2004).

This problem is very important for the nursing to study because it is the major problem prevailing in the nursing sector. Therefore, there is a great need of solving this problem in order to increase the number of skilled and trained nurses in United States.

Study Purpose

This study has been designed for the purpose of describing the experiences faced by the nurses for becoming refresh and turn back to their practice area. The study has also been designed for the purpose of identifying actual meaning behind the experiences gained from nursing perspectives. The study has emphasized on the nurses who are done with the study refresher courses from RNs from a Midwestern university from 2000 to 2005.

Research Questions

What were the experiences and the meanings of those experiences for nurses who took a nurse refresher course to return to nursing practice after being inactive?

The research question which has been asked in this study is about the experiences and the meanings of the refresher course taken by the nurses in order to turn back to their work with the perspective of nurses.

Yes, the question has been stated broadly for the qualitative study because it includes all the essence of the study which should be covered in the study.
