A nuclear family is a family, which consist of two married opposite gender parents and their legal children. The legal children may include both the adapted or biological offspring. The family is a universal cultural phenomenon, while the term nuclear family is not considered as universal term and is not followed in every society of the world. Similarly, nuclear family varies in different societies. A grandparent of either of the parents or a spouse of any of the children may be included in the nuclear family especially in Asian and African societies (Myer, 187).

The main purpose of the family is to bring into being and replicate individuals, organically and communally. Therefore, one's knowledge of one's relatives changes after some time. From the viewpoint of kids, the family is a point of reference: the ancestors serves to place brood publicly and acts a main role in their growth and creating world around. As the parent, the family is a family of reproduction; the ambition is to bring into being. However, this is not the mere purpose of the family; in culture with a sexual separation of labor, wedding, and the resultant association, it is essential for the arrangement of an inexpensively prolific family. A marital family has the husband, the wife, and single children. A matrilocal family has a mother and her kids. Usually, this offspring is her organic child; though taking on of kids is an exercise in almost all societies, this family is widespread. Many of the prevailing factors in the society are the reason for the change of prehistoric community into classes in many different cultures. This nuclear family was formerly broadly supposed to be the most fundamental and widespread form of society.
