Now I remember

I used to judge people based on my evaluation of my first encounter with them. I had always believed that the first impression that a person makes is the last impression that he/she ever makes (Leigh, 2010). I went through most of my teenage without questioning this particular approach to the people I encountered. However, it was not until that fateful summer Sunday when I revisited my theory.

It was a regular sunny Sunday morning and I was getting ready for a road trip I had been planning with my friends for over a month. We were heading out early in the morning so it was still dark when I got out of bed and I was expecting it to be a completely normal road trip with nothing out of the ordinary; little did I know that this was going to be one of the most memorable days of my life. My friends reached me on time and soon we were on our way in the car having our very own in-car karaoke session. It was turning out to be one of the best days of my life; until we got pulled over. We were having a lot of fun and our joyous singing came to an abrupt and unpleasant stop as the motorcycle cop's siren pierced through the car's mellow sound system and jolted us back to reality. My friend pulled over the car to the side and we waited for the cop to drive up and pull over next to us. I am a bit of a fan of motorcycles and I have always loved the motorbikes that motorcycle cops drive; except for when they pull me over.
