Nayar of India

Introduction

Nayar or Nayar (in Malayalam) is the name of an ethnic group originating in the state of India's Kerala. The term is inferred from the Sanskrit word Nayaka (leader) or Naga (snakes, an object of worship for Nayar). The main activities historically associated with Nayar, whose position in the caste system, in India, is being discussed, are those of warriors, historians and travelers. Nayar was linked to the samurai Japanese techniques of war and the traditional code of honor. The geographical origin of the Nayar is uncertain, according to some anthropologists, they are not natives of Kerala in the present forms of matrilineal descent, techniques of war (Kalarippayattu), divinity (the snake god Naga and Bhadhrakali) is distinct from other inhabitants the region.

There are two elements that support the hypothesis of an origin Nayar from Nepal, physical appearance (complexion clearer, more pronounced facial features) and the architectural style of pagoda temples and their Tharavaadu. The most distinctive element, however, is the system of matrilineal descent Marumakkathaayam, also practiced by the Newar Nepalese. Nevertheless, another source indicates anthropological theory Dravidian Nayar and attributes of the different facial features to intermarry with the Namboothiri.

Social Organization

The social and cultural factors that shape and lending meaning to these patterns, labeling a society “post-transitional” in terms of fertility many not disclose the wide diversity of possible trends in the pace of fertility within and across societies. One might find two low fertility settings that still have quite distinct distributions of the pace of child bearing. For instance, women in one society may delay child bearing until they are in mid thirties, and then have children in quick succession; compared to another society where women begin child bearing earlier, space their births, and practice terminal contraception before they even reached the age of thirty. Every culture thus has one or more normative schedules for child bearing that are embedded in the social and environmental condition of its members.

Economic Organization

Nayars also requires restructuring of Mahsssu. Medieval and even in the 19th century also contributed significantly to the Kerala Nayars. Their monopoly, until the mid 19th century, began to decline. Relations (non-legal marriage) as the organization and matriarchal joint family, where there was considered to be characteristic of early Nayars because many criminals emerged. Non-legal marriage and joint family system gave rise to the immorality, and started losing the tradition; this made way to the nuclear families. The realization of their decline took place, for instance financial market effects, the lack of traditional military training, education, adoption of new ideas through new media, lower class equality and took the privilege to bring awareness to causes such as collapse of the Nayars. This fall caused Actanb Aswamikal to restructure the religious people who like marriage, property rights issues, such as literature, press and then tried to improve Vidhayayqui ways. After 1914 AD, the movement triumphed and came true as the construction of the Nayar Service Society.
