Introduction

Human health and wellbeing has always been the most essential and important concern of the relevant professional and all measures are taken to ensure that the civilians are provided with ideal health facilities. It is eminent to mention here that almost all of the developed and urban countries attempt at providing outstanding and excellent health services to their citizens and it is due to the same reason that health issues in these countries are less than the health in other underdeveloped countries. In order to ensure provision of better health services to the citizens and the make sure that there are no health related problems faced by the citizens, some regulatory bodies and institutions have to be there so that the check and balance can be maintained and the culprits in the field can be punished. It should be noted that in absence of any regulatory body, there would be no guidance provided to the health professionals and in addition, there would be complete absence of the an organization to make complains and report issues, that would obviously result in creation of a haphazard and uncertain situation. Thus, in order to avoid any such situation and to make sure that the essential and sensitive profession of nursing and midwifery is well regulated and properly controlled, the Nursing and Midwifery Council has been established, which is the largest regulatory body of the healthcare professionals, with more than 660, 000 registered midwives and nurses and has been playing its part in the regulation and development of the profession since a number of years.
