Breast cancer is the most common malignancy among women in developed countries. It is estimated that about 5-10% of the cases may be due to inherited predisposition, but the exact number of predisposing genes is unknown. Epidemiological studies have provided evidence for at least two genes conferring inherited susceptibility to breast and ovarian cancer, BRCA1 (17q21) (Miki et al., 1994) and BRCA2 (13q12) [1].
