Multi- cultural, Hispanic children education through anti-bias curriculum
[Name of the Instructor]Multi- cultural, Hispanic children education through anti-bias curriculum
As I have been hired to teach the pre-school children and my class will be based on diverse and multicultural students which includes Hispanic, African, Asian, Middle Eastern, European and American. There are some students who are not even able to speak in English. To manage this class will be a great task for me. Pre-school setting is based on providing early childhood education to the children. There are five different developmental domains of children; if these domains are managed accordingly the learning would be possible. The five domains are Social, Physical, Intellectual, Creative and Emotional.
Hispanic
The term Hispanic refers to the relationship to Spain or to ancient Hispania that comprises of Iberian Peninsula including the modern states of Andorra, Spain, Portugal and the territory of Gibraltar. Nowadays, organizations in the United States use this term to refer a person with cultural and historical relationships either with Spain or Portugal. The Hispanic family does not only include parents and children but it is extended family. Father is head and mother is the care taker of home in Hispanic families. They are the ones who have close-knit relationships with each other (Urban, 2008). They help each other in hard times such as financial, unemployment, emotional, health concerns etc.
To manage a multicultural class with no biasness will require and extensive anti-bias curriculum that will support all the students on similar grounds. As these children are very young of about 3 to 5 years so they require proper attention and care from their teacher. Children of this age group are very sensitive so it is very important for the teacher to be well connected to them and show equality to them on all grounds.
Anti-bias Curriculum
The anti-bias curriculum will help me and the other teachers to work more professionally. There is a misconception that the educational system of United States is more favorable to the American's as compared to nations belonging to different cultures. The need of anti-bias curriculum will provide the children a solid understanding of social issues and problems and will equip them with the techniques and strategies that will help them in overcoming bias and will improve the overall social conditions. The concept of globalization or global village can be only possible to be achieved if the educational system encourages anti-bias curriculum for all the people regardless of their gender, ethnicity, color, language etc.
The children will be able to get the knowledge of each other's cultural norms, values, traditions and beliefs through the introduction of this curriculum (Kaha, 2010). The students will be able to form good relationships will each other and will be able to understand each other in a better way.
It was believed that United States early childhood programs are biased and are the promoter of anti-multiculturalism. To eliminate these issues we need strong approaches and the most key area that can bring improvement in it will be ...
