In the preamble of the chapter, motivation has been discussed and narrated with reference to context of human behavior. Motivation is a biological process that refers within a person or an animal moving it towards a certain goal or makes it move away from an unpleasant situation for the purpose of destiny.

This chapter focuses on motivation on biological drive such as having food. It tells how an individual is motivated to have food or water when he is hungry or when he is feeling thirsty.

The basal metabolism rate is the rate at which body calories burned because of some physical or mental exercise performed by an individual, which directly relate with the exercise.

Next the influence and impact of the environment has upon weight and proportion of people living within that frame. People who are overweight known as obsessed individuals. They tend to eat more than what they can. Obsession is a global problem witnessed by everyone and everywhere in the world. Factors of people getting into obsession such as abundance of rich food that are less readily available, expensive and carry high sugar, fat and starch. The effect of growing fast food restraints are making these types of food easily available to individuals who consumes these rich products, and ends up in being overweight. The aroma of these food products motivates and triggers certain behavior that results in the development of more hunger and starvation. Consumption of excessive sugar and excessive calories product. This is also one of the factors which have changed people from being normal to an obsessed individual. Now days, the presence of excessive calories witnessed. Soft drinks manufacturers' puts sweeteners into drinks that results in an average weight gain of about 14 pounds in consuming these drinks.

In addition to the environment mentioned above, the norms and culture of an individual also indicates the eating habits and activity level of the individuals have also been discussed at length. This section focuses on how cultural changes and gender effects the consumption of food and water in relation to the norms, culture, gender and body structure. According to the research, males considered to be more obsessed then woman. This is supported by various facts in the text of the chapter.
