Nature of the God

The nature of God is a very important issue. What qualities do we attribute to God when we think of “God”? Some qualities may include being powerful, intelligent, infinite, creative, loving, just, merciful, self-sustaining, perfect, etc. The God of the Bible is a great God. In fact, the Bible says that God's greatness is beyond comprehension. Psalm 145:3 says, “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable.” You can search and search for the end of God's greatness, but you will not be able to find it. If you can imagine something greater than God, then what you believe to be God is not God. God's greatness is found in every aspect of his being. It is found in is knowledge- God knows all things

The prophet explains you shall no more be termed Forsaken, and your land shall no more be termed Desolate; but you shall be called My delight is in her, and your land Married; for the Lord delights in you, and your land shall be married. For as a young man marries a virgin, your Builder shall marry you; and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you. Images and attitudes of love, which the Canticle of Canticles summarizes in the statement: I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine. Thus the relationship between Yahweh and his people is presented again in ideal terms. When she listened to the reading of the prophecies, Mary must have thought of this perspective, which nourished messianic hope in her heart. The rebukes addressed to the unfaithful people must have inspired in her a more ardent commitment of fidelity to the Covenant, opening her spirit to the proposal of a definitive spousal communion with the Lord in grace and love. From this new Covenant would come the salvation of the whole world.

Concept of Monotheism

The concept of monotheism characterizes various religious traditions throughout the history of humanity. No boundaries have banned the interaction between religions around the globe, whereby diverse characteristics and cultural components are transferable. The term monotheism comes from the Greek mono (µóvo) meaning “only” and theos (T?ó?) meaning “god.” Hence, monotheism is the belief in the existence of a single God or in the oneness of God or simply that God is one. Monotheism is contrasted with polytheism, which is the belief in the existence of many gods, and with atheism, which is the denial of the existence of any god. In its recognition of God's presence and activity in every part of creation and its belief in a conscious, free God distinct from the physical world, monotheism is opposed to the religious philosophies of deism and pantheism (Armstrong, 1993).
