Choosing a major as well as the choosing a college both are difficult tasks. The decision making process enabled me to sketch out a self assessment. This step enabled me to clearly identify my goals in life and the means used to reach them, and the next step was the exploration process where I gathered information exploring the options available. Initially I selected all the topics of my interest then I short listed them. The reason of attending a college then became clear, as it eventually enhances the knowledge as a whole regardless of one's defined career path (Scitable, 2011).

There were various topics in mind when instructed to write an essay, but eventually it ending up on writing how to choose a major. Later when wanted an admission to the college and had to choose a major as per my aspiration, it apparently helped in learned more about my interest. My homeland's educational system varies to an immense extent from the one I am presently studying. In India teachers are like god and there is a sort of a dictatorial environment on class. In US, the students participate in class on an individual basis. One of the main reasons I felt uncomfortable was the ability to express and speak in the class room discussion although teachers encourage students to do so. In my English course 101 class, we studied MAPN which stands for Multi-Angle Personal Narrative. I was able to write stories containing arguments. It actually helps in explaining an individual's life span as writing about how things start making sense how the life takes progress bringing surprising turns. This course enabled us to write in detail about our life's progression and what is happening in the world.
