Medicare and Medicaid are the two medical related programs from American government, which provides its services to a specific clan of people in United States. But both of the programs are different from each other. These programs are control and monitored by Centers of Medicaid and Medicare Services, which is a unit of United States Department of Human and health services.
Medicaid is medical and health related program for the people and families with very low income or with no source of income or very few resources. Though the primary matters are solved to decided at the federal level for Medicaid program but each state has maintain its own eligibility standards, also determines the amount and the time duration of the services, also the rate of payment for Medicaid services (Olson, 2010).
While Medicare is a health insurance plan, provided by the US government to the old aged people or certain disabled Americans. It consists of two parts through which it helps people, part A involves the payment of hospital fees and expenses related to hospital. While Part B includes the payment for visits to the doctor, home health care payments and other services.

Though Medicare and Medicaid programs are not same but they both have some similarities. Medicare and Medicaid both are funded by the federal Government. Medicare is fully funded with through the taxes we pay to the government while Medicaid is created through the combined State-Federal Program.
