Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to discuss on the concept of different approaches to media research including the political economy, media effects and cultural studies. It is often characterized by political and economic ways for different types of value production, distribution, exchange and consumption; that the power is how the production, distribution, exchange and use, and finally, how these aspects are related (Garnham, 1990, p23). Political Economy focus on the economy under the capitalist system of production media and economies industry structure, production and consumption of media and economies, and the flow of information.

How do the different questions asked by each approach shape and limit what we can know about communication? In fact, group interviews, the foundation for many studies in the class. Panel discussions are often used for research, for example, the concept of "communities of interpretation," and various "products" between teams from different classes, political perspectives, ethnicity or culture, as well as detailed study of the media in order to study the effect. It is also used to study the influence of the media (Young 1996 408).

The interaction between research participants, scientists can study how people react and resist the prospect of a mobilization or reporting on the discussions with each other. Unstable and dynamic processes in a group discussion, you can go to researchers from the simplistic notions of a fixed ratio to the analysis of social processes. Focus group work may also various types of food are jokes, gossip, songs, jokes, all the important forms of communication that help to understand how to obtain news media resisted rebuilt, and daily in the exchange.

For example, focus groups on AIDS stressed the importance of "cultural exchange" in the media. ("Be you would have you in it swim treated in an open wound") was highlighted this in the pursuit, as the history of "vindictive AIDS carrier" used in group discussions and study of the distribution of the "mud" at risk of HIV from saliva . (This time to discuss the social problems of the work) Another important research project with focus groups emphasized the importance of high-profile "template" events in public debates. This study has shown how journalists and their audience of thumbnail sketches of previous scandals about social work intervention to communicate, how they react to recent events in the news (Werner 2001 100)used.

Researchers can use focus groups (especially in combination with interviews or questionnaires) to determine how the individual experience and personality related to team learning, shared and retained from the group. Where the dynamics of the new revelation will prompt discussion, the researchers can determine how it relates to the trajectory of the discussion.
