Maternal Mortality in Cambodia

Abstract

Maternal Mortality rates in the Cambodia tends to be very high as per the figures tends to stretches to touch the number of 290 deaths/100,000 live births. Many experts believe that the reason attached to this number tends to include the shortages of the hospitals and qualified personnel, equipment in structures, and poverty of patients who do not have the means to adjust too expensive care are causing many of these deaths. To add on the adversity more than the 80% of Cambodia's population tends to live in rural areas.

Introduction:

Maternal Mortality is interpreted as the death of a pregnant woman in the course of the deliver or the death due to any of the healthcare related issues. A woman does require a special care when she is going through the phase of pregnancy only due to the fact that it is not only the life of the one individual at risk but also the life of the individual is also at risk that is yet to come in this world. Many experts are of the view that the maternal mortality tends to inculcate the factors such as live birth, stillbirth, abortion, and induced abortion, ectopic or molar pregnancy. Moreover, the maternal death tends to inculcate the death due to the complexity in the treatments of the lack of the appropriate health care. However, the whole notion of the maternal death fails to include the factors such as accidental or incidental deaths.

Incidental or Accidental deaths are interpreted as the death due to unforeseen incidents such as traffic accidents or deaths from other conditions such as most cancers that are not affected by pregnancy (Robert, 2011). As identified above that the Maternal Mortality tends to be related to lack of healthcare and in the course of the paper we intend to shed light on the Cambodia where the Maternal Mortality rates are higher than most of the counties in the region. This would be done by inculcating different perspectives in order to develop an effective and efficient understanding of the subject.
