An Introduction to Maslow's Theoretical Concepts

Introduction

The theorist, I decided to write about is Abraham Maslow, born in 1908 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the first of seven children born to parents of Jewish immigrants from Russia. His parents, hoping for the best for their children in a new light, pushed him hard for academic success (Unknown, 1995). He was a psychologist, which many people consider the founder of humanistic psychology.

Movement is designed as a rebellion against Behaviorism and psychoanalysis, the two most popular psychological point of view of mid-1900. Humanistic psychologists believe that persons under the control of their own values and choice, instead, as I think behaviorists or unconscious as a psychoanalyst believe. Maslow stresses the importance of examining good people and not only those violations. The purpose of this report is to understand the Maslow's theortical setoff and concepts from point of my personal life.

Hierarchy of Needs

Its most famous hierarchy of needs Maslow's posts are diverse, perhaps. Physiological requirements include biological needs for water, oxygen, proteins, vitamins, proper body temperature, sleep, sex, etc. If physiological needs mainly a second tier requests recorded is security in the game. We are more interested, security, stability and protection. We could develop the necessary structures for the order, some limitations. In our daily lives we show these needs in our desire, a seven part of the community, a member of the Church and my brother of brotherhood to marry bands or bowling. In addition, part of what we are looking for a career. Respect the needs. Then we start to look a little bit of self-esteem. Maslow said two versions of respect for requirements below and above.

Every day you must respect for others, to show that would even status of glory, fame, recognition, reputation, gratitude, dominance must know. The highest form of self-evaluation, requires a feeling like trust, competence and performance, excellence, independence and freedom. This form of "high" because in contrast to the other as soon as we have self-respect, is much more difficult to lose(Allen, 2000).

Deficit of Needs

Negative version of these requirements is low self-esteem and poor. Maslow argued that Adler was right when he said were in the roots of our psychological difficulties. In today's society, many of us for our physiological needs, and security. Sometimes we appropriate love and a sense of belonging. This connection that often seems hard to get!
