The debate about legalizing marijuana is generating much discussion. There are lobbyists trying to decriminalize the possession and the use of the substance. Yet not many people understand the advantages that these initiatives promise to bring with it. For people, it is nothing more than a weed that affects the functions of the brain and gets people high. This perception comes from years of coverage of its negative effects and a lack of research about the possible health and economic benefits. The debate over the legalization of marijuana and decision of Federal Government is of an unbalanced nature because of the fact that the sides favoring and opposing the legalization of marijuana are not able to address the debate over the same issues. As each side presents an argument, the debate continues to evolve without converging towards a conclusion.
Discussion
Even if the purpose was to delay the age of onset of marijuana use and subsequent drug use, the effect has been counterproductive, as it has pushed them to less regulated areas. It seems that there is still no clear answer whether it is advantageous to decriminalize marijuana. What if there is no doubt that should be maintained the prohibition of marijuana production, because otherwise it would initiate a market factor that would push the consumption.
Legalization of marijuana
With the legalization of marijuana, a part of the business of drug trafficking will end, as it will become more accessible and without any legal problem. In case of its legalization, one can produce large scale market with profits for the states. The legalization of marijuana would have the advantages that we can totally imagine, greater product quality, as this would not be adulterated because will go through certain health checks, a much lower cost, because there would be various intermediaries. It would also put an end to the black market and drug trafficking networks. The main economic benefit from the legalization of marijuana cultivation is that consumers could, once the product is freely sold, benefit from advanced technology that provides mass production. It is obvious that free culture would allow producers to invest in improving the product and its manufacture (Fish, 91).
There is another element to consider in the judiciary. Once the cultivation, sale and consumption of marijuana become legal, there is no reason for the groups that now controls this activity go terrorize the farmers by forcing them, for example, to grow cannabis in their cornfields. Inhaled marijuana has potential to advance chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting. Since marijuana was found out, it was smoked to get high and with pain medical conditions, but now researchers are studying marijuana to glimpse if ingesting it can have the better outcome. In addition, it brings into question the issue of individual liberty and freedom.
The Federal Government can only exercise restraint on those actions that endanger somebody else's life. Since the individual using it makes a choice out of free will, they do deserve the right to make personal choices. As the drug, it has ...
