Should The Federal Government Legalize The Use Of Marijuana?
Abstract
Marijuana has the promise to become one of the most helpful substances in the entire world. If it was legalized and people took action we would see benefits immediately. People suffering from diseases would experience relief. The medical usage of this drug began to decline in the 1900's with the advent of alternative drugs.
Should The Federal Government Legalize The Use Of Marijuana?
Introduction
The federal government through the Ministry of Health (SSA), firmly rejected the legalization of marijuana because there is no scientific or clinical evidence attesting to their qualifications for medical use(Morgan 2007). The legalization of marijuana is a much bigger step than decriminalization or legal use for medical reasons, things that have happened in USA.
Discussion
The ideal way of legalizing marijuana is that the federal government ends its ban, while allowing each state to regulate and taxed marijuana as it properly deems. The American experiment with prohibition of marijuana is so poorly conceived as the previous experiment with alcohol prohibition. We learned our lesson once. It's time to learn it again. Also, it brings into question the issue of individual liberty and freedom. The government can only exercise restraint on those actions that endanger somebody else's life. Since the individual using it makes a choice out of free will, they do deserve the right to make personal choices(Caswell 2002). As the drug, it has less dangerous consequences than legal drugs like alcohol and tobacco.
Several Latin American governments, especially those who run the major producers or sellers of marijuana have expressed great concern about this measure. They claim that this would be an enormous political and legal contradiction; the United States has always led the fight against drugs and has little consistency legalizing the use and production of these drugs in their territory. Given these statements, the United States government has said that regardless of what is decided in California, the northern country will continue to fight against the drug cartels and drug trafficking worldwide.
It's difficult and delicate. But, despite this measure is unsuccessful, the issue of legalization of drugs, especially marijuana, is the subject of enormous discussion worldwide and has led countries like the Netherlands to legalize the consumption and distribution of cannabis can easily get in Amsterdam. Yet there is nothing written about the future of the fight against drug cartels. However, supporters of the measure say the ban is only helping those posters, to raise prices and enable the production of drugs continue linked to armed factions and criminal organizations.
We now know that no one is addicted smoking a marijuana cigarette, but we do know that regular use of the drug can lead to dependence. The risk will depend on how often the person uses the drug and the concentration of THC that marijuana has in use.
The idea that marijuana "is not a drug" or that is a "mild drugs" is severely challenged by the doctor. In this interview, warns about the increasing concentration of the active substance ...
