This problem is not only faced in poor third world or developing countries, but is also alleviating in Developed countries (Akchin, 2001). This problem of food shortage is resulting in millions of dollars in the form of diseases, deaths and other issue. Therefore, it is causing losses of billions of dollars to the different economies of the world. To counter this issue there are various governmental and non-governmental agencies who are working for the welfare of people. Some of these organizations are providing direct assistance in the form of foods and shelter, while the other is providing indirect assistance to the people in the form of school funding and shelter soft term loans.

Manna Food bank is one of those agencies, which is striving for the welfare of people through the provision of foods for them. They are working in the Western North Carolina of United States of America. They act as a bank for food, where the foods is stored and delivered to various small organizations. These organizations work on a small scale and helps in the delivery of food to individual people. Manna Food also accepts cash, which is utilized in the welfare of people all over North Carolina. As per the report of Manna Foods, there are more than 30% people who do not have access to basic food, which is needed to thrive. More than 106,000 people turned to the food pantry for satisfying there needs of food over the last year , this turns out to 1 in 6 person (Bendapudi, Singh and Bendapudi, 1996). To sum up, the work performed by Manna food is very humanitarian in nature and is a great push for the welfare of the nation, so we are going to look at it's financial to find out the level of success.

About the Organization

The organization is striving to provide food to the unprivileged people of Western North Carolina. The provide food to all the ages of people through there sub organizations. Manna foods get its food supply from more than 100,000 individuals (Akchin, 2001). The gathering of food is done through various programs. The food sources for 2011 are as following

Last year Manna Food bank received an estimated 10 million pounds of foods from its donors. This significant contribution for Manna increased its food supply to its 231 partner's agencies by a lot of margin with much better quality of foods.

The work force of the organization consists of fulltime worker, volunteer and interns. They donate a considerable time of theirs in planning and working in the organization. In 2011, more than 6,253 individuals donated more than 26,000 of their working hours for the organization.
