Managing in International Organisations

Introduction

In Section A of this paper I will focused on the management in international organization and the role played by Global managers in the success of the organization .In Section B I will highlight the Japanese management practices as I chose Toyota motors as example. Finally In this paper I have focused on the significance of teamwork and Leadership across cultures. The individual personality characteristics determine the leadership skills, but the corporate culture also plays a role in Global Management. Global Manager of a multinational business must ensure that the management team is taking the right decisions at the right time. There must be some coordination mechanism that enables the entire company to learn from local successes. It is a great challenge for leaders. The achievement of employee turnover is something but not everything. It is necessary to do more.

Diverse style of Global management could be crucial to running a large multinational. Global Managers located in different parts of the world may need different kinds of support. The gradual increase in the globalisation has influenced leadership in several ways. Globalisation has influenced leadership with international employee transfer rates, increase in opportunities, and competition. Effective leadership, in one country, may not result in good leadership in, another country, for many reasons.

Section A:

Global Management

A Global Manager may be blessed with certain traits that are preferred in a country, and these traits or habits may not be accepted or held highly in another country. Nations have their own social standards, and culture. Global Manager with the vast knowledge of a country's ethics, customs, and beliefs and basic leadership skills may prove to be a beneficial leader to a business in another country. A Global Manager can have several skills that may make them successful in the worldwide. These skills are awareness, strong business knowledge and sensitivity to cultural differences and standards, commitment, courage, and integrity (Baruch, 2002, 36-42).

The difference between domestic and global Managers is the management of human resources to reproduce comparative advantage for the company. This management may also reflect the cultural values of Global managers and employees. It is assumed that cultural factors may play a role in choosing a strategy. Americans and Chinese cultural differences tend to influence the choice of management strategies to be adopted. For example, the Chinese tend to evaluate decisions based on the risk of loss, while the Americans evaluate in terms of possible benefits. The role of social partners with regard to training varies across continents, according to the traditions and circumstances. The social company in itself is a multifaceted concept in China, for example, employers and non- unions working together, mainly in their own field of work. In US, the approach is dominant, whether of a regional or national level (Boyacigiller et al, 2006 pp.121).
