Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to select an organization and make an analysis on the cross-cultural leadership issues faced by the managers. This paper makes an analysis on the different cross-cultural issues which the managers can face in leadership and management. The paper makes an analysis on the issue that it is necessary for the managers of tourism and hospitality industry to understand the concept of cross-cultural leadership and management. The organization selected for this paper is “Sandal Resorts”.

Company Overview

Sandal resorts are considered to be the most popular resorts in Jamaica. They are planning to start its business in UK market. Almost more than 200,000 nature lover prefer to visit Sandal resorts every year. It is estimated that ever year the tourists and the visitors spend almost $270 million for the recreational activities and food at Sandal Resort (Adler, Nosh, 2007, p. 22-25).

UK is an ideal place for tourist. People come from all over the world, to visit UK for various purposes. People usually come in party of 2, to enjoy the natural beauty of UK. Most of the tourist falls into the age group of 35 to 44 years. They come to UK to enjoy the serene beauty of UK (Schneider, 2003, p. 42). Though UK is a beautiful country, it has some drawbacks too (Adler, Nosh, 2007, p. 22-25). The transportation system is not well maintained, and the best transportation network in UK is in Miami. UK is an ideal tourist destination. It is a state of natural beauty. UK offers a rich and eclectic culture and heritage. The finest museums in the world are found in UK. Whoever visits UK love the Disney world in Orland. It is best theme park in the world. UK offers everyone something.

Management and Leadership across cultures have been greatly associated with one another since leading itself is one of the core components of effective management that is, planning, organizing, leading and controlling. The reason leading is a key component is because when employees, students, subordinates, coordinators or even family members living in a family setting or grouping required and obliged to follow certain rules and principles set by an authoritative individual or body or organization that runs the entire setup (Bass, 2007, p. 130-139). Thus for effective management, strong and effective leadership skills are necessary and inevitably crucial in order for the entire system of conduct, to survive accordingly.

Management clearly implies the positioning and undertaking of organizational goals and tailoring them in order to improve the external reputation and portfolio in the overall market (Bass, 2007, p. 130-139).
