Minority Companies within Logistics

Introduction

For the United States, the number of black minorities out small in proportion to the number of minorities in the population. According to the 2000 census, about 10 percent of the U.S. population are non-white and 1.5 percent Hispanic. In the United States, about 25 percent of the population are non-white and 12.5 percent Hispanic. Figure 1 shows that the percentage of minority-owned, black-owned and Hispanic-owned businesses in the U.S., much less than the percentage of minorities, African-Americans and Hispanics in the U.S. population. The figure also shows that the relative number of Asians and Pacific Islander and American Indian owned and Alaska Native-owned businesses is greater than the relative number of Asians and Pacific Islanders and Native Americans & Alaska Natives in the population. The roles minority (Black) companies

In 1997, the trade raised about 43 percent of the black minority owned company with 5,377 companies. Black minority-owned businesses in the industry had 9200 sales of $ 660,000,000 and revenues and employees. Retail was the other important industry for black minorities out in the U.S. with over $ 600 million in sales and revenue and 6,700 employees. The category of the industry had not classified the second leading minority-owned companies with 2,884. (Christopher 2002)

The richest minority owed Black, Hispanic, Native American company

Black Enterprise magazine selected five Fairfax County companies for its 2010 list of the largest African-American-owned corporations in the United States. Together, these companies generated $612.1 million in revenues and employed nearly 6,300 people. Only nine states have more companies on the list than Fairfax County.

Of the various minorities of African-Americans, there were more companies than any other minority one. It is one of 5629 companies were African Americans. This company employs 7,700 people and had over $ 650,000,000 in sales and revenue. A majority of businesses were owned by African Americans in the industry. (Chiu 2005)

The black owned business of logistics functions as partners, renowned as “third-party logistics providers”, has progressively become a mighty alternate to the customary, vertically-integrated firm. A growth in the number of black owned businesspartnerships has assisted to the development of more flexible associations, founded on centre competencies and mutually beneficial longer-term relationships. A 2005 review of the chemical commerce, for demonstration, discovered that the mean number of black owned businesspartnerships per Contractor Integrated Logistics Support (CILS) increased from 1.5 in 1989 to 5.5 in 2004. Overall, some 60 percent of Fortune 500 companies report having not less than one agreement with a third-party logistics provider.
