I was keen to learn English since my childhood because; I have noticed that, there is the great demand of English language in all over the world because of the influence of West. I lived in Saudi Arabia and, there was no special system of learning English. I decided to do masters in linguistics from America because, the Master in Forensic Linguistics allows a comprehensive knowledge in Forensic Linguistics, understood as the discipline that studies the interface between language and law, using techniques derived from new technologies and enable statistical reviews, performances and scientific and professional advice high competence and reliability by forensic linguists, for later use in legal and judicial contexts. I know that, within two years, the program is linguists as experts or consultants in the three areas of specialization of forensic linguistics such as; legal language and language evidential or probative, with the aim of contributing to the resolution of an investigation, police or not, based on linguistic evidence, or justify the verdict or the sentence of a judge, magistrate or court proceedings. The curriculum is designed so, it can be studied part-time, making it easier for students to continue with their work. I could study this degree while living in other cities. Block seminars are held in Medellin and, depending on demand, may offer seminars in Bogota. Some classes were taught by videoconferences.
My future goals at the time of choosing masters in Applied linguistics were the desire to see reflected in what seemed different and alien (i.e. foreign language), the "laws of the human spirit". This goal, typically idealistic, is prefixed by traditional methods inlcuding, the foreign language is lowered into a grammatical system mostly latinizzante, and we strives to rationally explain the numerous anomalies, it seeks to achieve, not practical, but a solid cultural background, in fact, mold idealist where the relativism of linguistic anthropology has little place. I have realized the fact that Masters in applied linguistics will give me future opportunities in Saudia to build my career in a more effective way. There is the great demand of lignuistics in Saudia because, Arabs are not the good learners of English and, they have to learn English by going abroad or take special courses. I have seen a great charm in doing Masters in applied linguistics as there are more career opportunities for linguisitics in Suadia than any other Middle East Country.
