CHAPTER THREE: METHODOLOGY

A detailed outline of the research design for this study will be provided in the Chapter 3. This chapter mainly include all the methods that are used for the collection of data and the philosophy behind the choice of methods. This chapter will also expand on the elements of the research design, in particular, and towards the research approach of the proposed study. Moreover, this chapter outlines the criteria for exclusion and inclusion of articles. Further, this chapter presents the outcomes of the literature search i.e. the total number of articles found and the selection as well as the exclusion process.

3.1 Research Aims and Objectives

The purpose of this study is to explore the Limitations of Female Genital Mutilation and Cutting Interventions and Possible Strategies to address mainly in Somalia. The purpose of this study was to undertake the FGM/FGC programs and various mutilation activities in Somalia. There was an in depth review taken for the FGM practice in Somalia including the responses from the international partners, civil societies, communities and regional authorities. Best practices were to be extracted from the FGM projects. Some potential areas were to be recommended where the UNFPA and Bank may engage or improve to support and the elimination of FGM in Somalia.

The aims and objectives of this study include:

To highlight the problem concerning female genital mutilation and cutting in Somalia

To focus attention and shed light on the prevalence of FGM in Somalia.

To evaluate the functions that typically attributes to the practices ranging from the hygiene to aesthetic beauty, easier childbirth and reduction of the female pleasure.
