An appropriate lesson plan is necessary for the students of each grade or level. This holds true especially for the class in which the students belong to diverse cultures. There should be such a lesson plan which encourages the interpersonal skills among the students to break the cultural barriers. In this paper, a lesson plan has been designed for 5th grade class with different nationalities, more specifically the Ecuador. The lesson plan designed focuses on increases the interpersonal skills of the students.
Ecuadorian culture is a mixture of influences from Spanish conqueror, the ancient traditions of pre-Columbian peoples (Guild & Garger, 1998). Ecuador's population belongs to many different ethnicities, so it is very diverse. The Castilian (Spanish) is the language of official use in the Republic of Ecuador. However, other languages and dialects are used by various ethnic groups in the country as Quichua Shimi, Awapit, Chapalachi, Tsafiqui, Paicoca, A'ingae, Huaotirio, Shuar-Chich, and Zaparo (Gorski, 2005).
Interpersonal Skills
Simply put interpersonal skills are the skills we use to interact or deal with others. Interpersonal skills are sometimes also referred to as communication skills, people skillsand/or soft skills. How we deal with others can greatly influence our professional and personal lives, improving these skills builds confidence and enhances our relationships with others (Schrock, 2002).
We all have interpersonal skills. We've been learning them, usually subconsciously, since birth. We learn how people are likely to react to what we say and do. How these actions are likely to make them, and us, feel. People with good interpersonal skills have learnt to identify which are the best ways of interacting with others in different situations. Interpersonal skills are easily developed, a little time and effort spent working and practicing your interpersonal skills will pay huge rewards in your professional and personal lives.
Interpersonal skills are those that allow you to have better communication with others. The word "inter" can be confused with "intra" means "within oneself" but is "inter" means between interpersonal means between people (the dictionary). Therefore interpersonal skills are all skills that allow us to relate better to people, then explained the different skills they exist on the same curiosities and tips on using these interpersonal skills. The most important but are almost unique empathy, emotions and sociability (Schrock, 2002).
