Thesis Statement

Children in gay families are often "skips" and the actual differences were trying to declare non-existent.

Discussion

In recent years, scientists are paying close attention to the problems raising children in the families of gays and lesbians. In April 2001, sociologists Biblarts Timothy (Timothy Biblarz) and Judith Stacey (Judith Stacey) of the University of Southern California (University of Southern California) have completed a truly titanic task to analyze the results of twenty-one studies on the subject during the period from 1980 until recently. Their findings were published in American Sociological Review. Scientists have identified the differences between children raised in homosexual and heterosexual families, in their attitudes towards gender roles and sexual preferences (American Psychological Association, 2004).

In an interview, with "Reuters" Biblarts emphasized that in previous studies, information on children in gay families are often "skips" and the actual differences were trying to declare non-existent. "Sociologists do not have the complete freedom to study differences between children. Studies have been self-censorship, and the researchers downplayed the significance of any results showing the difference between children of gay and lesbian families, compared with heterosexual families. Unfortunately, this approach leads to a lack of progress in the social sciences "- said Biblarts.”In our work, we argue that sometimes the differences are indeed differences, and we need to examine them and recognize their existence," - he added. Biblarts said that there was some not very significant, "but very interesting differences ... in those areas where we expected to find them (Brewaeys & Ponjaert, 1997)."

For example, teenage boys from same-sex families were less active in their sexual "exploits" than their counterparts in heterosexual families. The boys, brought up lesbian couples, showed less aggressive and more socially tolerable behavior than boys from heterosexual families.

At the same time, the opposite trend was observed among teenage girls. Teenage girls in lesbian families are much less gravitated toward traditional women's clothing, games and activities. They also showed more liberated and less "squeezed" attitude to sex than girls of heterosexual families. The study showed that more children from homosexual families accept same-sex relationships, however, statistically more of them gay, lesbian, bisexual, or than children rose in heterosexual families.

No differences in cognitive development or emotional well-being of children, depending on the orientation of their parents have been identified. "Children live a full life - said Biblarts. - There is no ...
