LEED Green Associate Certification Process

In order to have an understanding in depth about the LEED Green Associate Certification program, it is essential to know what it is about. A program was developed by the Green Building Council of United States by the name Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) in order to encourage the builders to utilize a much green and sustainable practices (Kibert, 2008). There are four levels devised through which any building can qualify for becoming a LEED certified which is categorized as certified gold, silver and platinum. These categories are given according to the level of resource management and energy conservation (Cottrell, 2011).

The system of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) has been functioning within the United States of America since 1991 and currently there are 50 buildings in all in 24 different countries around the globe that have been marked as LEED certified buildings. The system that is devised within the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) are subdivided into six different categories that are water conservation, atmosphere and energy, sustainable sites, resources and materials, quality of the indoor environment, and innovation in the green designing. When a building is subject to becoming a LEED certified, each of this six categories should be considered in accordance to the effects to the environment. But when a building is certified as LEED, the rewards for that building are plenty. A building having a LEED certification increases the value of home and also helps in the attracting of good potential buyers. Tax breaks can also be generated if a building is certified as LEED and can also expedite the process of permitting (Kubba, 2010).

The Requirements For LEED Green Associate Certification

At least one of the following requirements needs to be fulfilled in order to be eligible for the LEED Green Association exam.

1.Must possesses experience of working in a LEED-registered and supported project

2.The field of experience must be related with a sustainable cause for the future.

3.You must have attended an academic program that focuses on developing skills for green building in the modern era.

You must present proof of experience in the form of an experience letter endorsed by the immediate supervisor, client, project manager or teacher. Moreover, the experience letter should describe the nature of your role and responsibility in the business environment. You are required to provide an official educational document like transcript to prove your academic record. This information needs to be submitted along with the application for taking the exam.
