During my time in the Leadership course I have been exposed to a variety of leadership styles and examining the benefits and drawbacks of each one. I have also spent a great deal of time on personal reflection of my own personal areas of strength and how I would like to improve my leadership abilities in some areas.
Leadership is an activity to influence people to voluntarily strive to achieve the objectives of the group. This definition of leadership defines who I would like to be as a leader, both within my future MBA classes and teams and after graduation in the workforce of Saudi Arabia. As I have listened and reviewed the literature I began to realize that many of my thoughts on leadership were actually good management practices. Strong leadership has the ability to surpass the results of good management alone.
Discussion
As my leadership philosophy I have chosen to be a leader that empowers those around her, to achieve shared goals, through teamwork, cooperation and the self-improvement of all team members. By encouraging and supporting others in achieving their goals and dreams I will also grow and develop as a person and a leader.
I have chosen this type of leadership style as I believe that it is the best fit with my personal strengths, values and morals. I have the desire to be part of the team and am not seeking the spotlight for my achievements as an individual. I am aware that I have areas that I need to improve on to achieve my goals and areas that I should continue to foster and grow.
One may have heard everywhere to the greatest of the extent about leadership. Everyone has a different opinion about leaders, some say leaders are made, and some say leaders are born. Actually, it doesn't actually matter how we build a leader but, we all need leaders in every field of life, be it a country, an organization, or your home. To create an understanding about leaders, we can clearly define them as, a person with the ability to make individuals follow him with their own will.
A leader is required to have lot of qualities in him or her. Leaders establish unity of purpose and direction of the organization. They can create and maintain internal development in which members of the organization are being fully involved in achieving the objectives of the organization.
In this world, everyone possesses unique identity. An individual may have different ethnic background, race, class, gender and religion. In this regard, due to variation in the relevant background, an individual has different leadership qualities. The leadership qualities depend on the strong or weak background of the person. If a person has brought up in an upstanding family, and got a quality education then he will have different leadership qualities than the person who lacks in these two areas.
