Introduction

If we turn the pages of history of management and leadership, we will promptly found out that USA presidential office chaired some of the best leaders of all time. United States of America is a country of people and states, run by systems and processes in accordance to the rules and policies set in the constitution of the country. In a way, it worked as an organization looking out for a leader in the form of the president to give them strategic directions for the future. One of the leaders was Ronald Wilson Reagan who served as the 40th President of the United States from Jan. 20, 1981 to Jan. 19, 1989. His leadership style was unlike any other, and he made unconventional decisions in the history.

Emergen ce as a Leader

He did not become such a prominent leader and acquired such legacy overnight. In fact, series of events contributed to his legacy. Soon after, he took his ceremonial oath, Iran released 50 American people after a year negotiation. After 69 days of becoming President, he was nearly shot dead in an assassination attempt. He suffered a serious injury, but, he never let the nation know about it and quickly recovered to get back to the office. Fourth months later, 13000 air traffic controllers, in order to get their demands met, went on strike t. Reagan refused to accept their demands and gave 48 hours ultimatum to return to work and fired those who did not comply. This event marked that new president was resolute when he said anything. These two events shaped the powerful image he quickly came to assume in the imagination of many Americans. He made the parliament sign the economic bill which essentially boosted the economy for the record 90 month during his regime, after it was going through the biggest recession, after the great depression of 1930s. One of his biggest and tremendous achievements is his efforts to end up the 46 years cold war with Soviet Unions. This biggest and tremendous achievement was not only a dream but historically known as the biggest event.

His leadership Style

In words of Lady Thatcher who summarized the whole achievements of R. Reagan, “In his lifetime, Ronald Reagan was such a cheerful and invigorating presence that it was easy to forget what daunting historic tasks he set himself. He sought to mend America's wounded spirit, to restore the strength of the free world and to free the slaves of Communism”. He is one of the most important presidents in history of United States of America. His leadership style was distinct and unlike any. He also faced criticism, but his friends and foes, could not help to stop liking him. Even the Soviet President of the time was touched by his soft side and agreed on things which he would otherwise had not. He was a visionary leader.
