Introduction

A concept of leadership in nursing grew out of a long-standing and enduring commitment to describe and define the concept and field of nursing leadership. In a number of precedent researches, this personates around the world, I have tried to share that commitment. This study presents another venue to provide students, faculty, nurse managers, executives, and others with a concise resource for information about the range of knowledge and roles encompassed by the term nursing leadership. Included are descriptions of the contributions of key nursing leaders, the knowledge base and traits of leadership, skills and models on which leadership based, the regulatory environment of health care, the range of practice settings and roles, and the design of quality outcomes.

Nine themes were developed, around which the entries were organized: Characteristics of Leaders; Management and Executive Skills; Theories and Models of Management and Leadership; Major Leaders in Nursing; Professional Standards; Health Care Delivery Standards and Health Policy; Leadership in Practice, Education, and Research; Quality Outcomes; and Informatics and Technology. The associate editors and I hope that you will use this reference guide and the practical skills and references of each entry. Further it develops your understanding of what leaders and aspiring leaders need to know to be successful.

Nursing leadership is a process that promotes the improvement of health conditions and life of the population. The achievement of care goals characteristic of the profession, and achieves the goals proposed in the health services. Therefore, it is a social professional, organizational process. It promotes the social, professional and organizational (Perra, 2000). The importance of leadership lies in its capability to promote development, and makes more and more nurses able to practice the skills and practice in the area where they play. The two characteristics that in my point of view, the most important to leader in nursing includes Collaboration and Courage.

The most important characteristic that a leader should posses is Collaboration. Teamwork also regarded as another important aspect of leading Special democratic leaders and transformers. The recognition of the group as the preferred forum for the exercise of leadership is essential. In converges group common goal that we have, and there is distribution of tasks that will enable the achievement of same? The management skills and strategic decision-making skills are two other influential leaders. They have to do with all that must be developed to translate the vision, objectives and goals into action and later in results. It also highlights the competent conduct of work, and that the leader should have a sense of mastery of the task to perform.

Implications in Nursing

In the professional context at hand, this means that the nurse should know very well all aspects of care to provide it with expertise.
