Introduction

Leadership management style

We live in a time of uncertainty and crisis. The economy is in crisis, politics, justice, organizations, ideas, values, education, and the person. It takes real leadership means to achieve objectives, peace, prosperity, fulfilling your purpose in life, health, feel love for others, encourage and develop new leaders, hold and convey a positive mental attitude, personal excellence, power leading change, innovation and ability to anticipate events, vision, etc. to overcome these times (Yukl 2007, pp. 96).

Austerity requires an adaptive change of us from all part of the problem and responsible for finding whole new solutions to the new reality. However, this requires leadership. It requires someone who dares, and take the challenge of mobilizing people in times of uncertainty and scenarios, where the answers not known, and where people should be made responsible for the problem and seek solutions. This is the essence of leadership. It requires people willing to make difficult problems "on the table" exercising leadership, with or without authority. People willing to swim against the current and prevailing paradigms (McCauley & Velsor 2003, pp. 112). People can create tension, a mobilizing strain. However, at the same time, people able to contain the pressure generated by the changes and conflicts, but so far not sufficient step to reduce the adaptive work.

Without leadership, there is no change. Without change, there is no adaptation. Moreover, without adaptation, there are no solutions. Pretender out of the crisis without leadership is wanting out of this, doing the same, not wanting to "sacrifice" anything in return.

In times of crisis and uncertainty, when the manual for success shows volatility, when the roads are not necessarily known to the desired destination drive and tell us that our compasses do not always have to go north, emerges with clarity and sharpness of the importance leadership. It is worth mentioning that when we speak of leadership we do not mean the traditional thinking that leader is someone who has more fans or who influence the behavior of others. Understand leadership as a driving style that committed to developing its people. In the words of Tom Peters: "Leaders do not create followers, they create leaders."

We can say that authentic leadership begins by leaders. What do we mean by this? Our ability to develop entrepreneurship, lead teams and promote the advancement of our organizations will be conditioned by our own process of personal development and the acquisition of skills that determine our effectiveness. There is an ancient spiritual law that says: "As within, so without" and this shows us that we do what we are (Judge et al. 2002, pp. 765). No one can offer what has not, nor guided by a pathway not previously transited, or provide an education without first being trained. It is upon this conviction, we hold that the leader development process shifted from the inside out, and self-mastery is a necessary condition for the exercise of effective leadership.
