Interview the Significant Person

An interview is more than just asking questions prepared. To conduct good interviews is an art that can be learned. The interview is a method that qualifies investigatory method, which practically comes with articulate speech, and social needs of human relationship in the process production of material goods and is used in almost all journalistic genres to obtain certain information. My experience of interviewing a significant personality was so influential that I was emotionally and social involved in discussion. The interviewee was my father, Michael John, who is one of the most experienced and well known photographers in the region. He had been working in this field from the past 20 years. He had been facing many challenges in this field because of emergence of new technological changes and changes in customers' demand of creative positions and poses in photography. In this consideration, he attended different seminars and workshops related to photography on international level.

Apart from his field work, he did his bachelor's in Mass Communication and masters in Photography. Photography skills and abilities are fully possessed by John as he was born with the talent of taking colorful and creative images of people around him. He was interested in observing others' behavior and personality through by taking their different pictures and images. According to his perception, we cannot judge anyone by talking to him but the major representation of a person's personality is his image and his position in which he has been clicked by the photographer. He had been taking different poses of people and makes them realize how they can look in their self. This makes them understand that how do they look and how do they identify their real personality by looking at themselves and their images.

The interview was long and argumentative discussion which involves many arguments and conflicts because of the differences in our opinions and perception about photography. I have realized that the most important thing in conducting effective interview is how the interviewee responds to your questions. During the interview, I asked many open ended questions which he fully answered in his own way of expressing his thoughts and perception about his experience with different images. In conflict with unreasonable requests and criticisms count not only the arguments, but the situation is usually charged emotional manipulations. This interview was the most interesting interview as both interviewee and interviewer were emotionally and psychologically involved in a serious discussion. People can have many reasons to not engage in conversation. That says something about the people and little about the interviewer. If an interviewer interprets it as a personal rejection he makes it difficult on himself and respect you are not the (good) reasons for someone to not have to talk. My interviewee was not seen as a VIP and but he is the most interesting person I have ever met.
