Innovation and Change

Introduction

There are countless innovations that allow us to improve the quality of our everyday lives. These seemingly minor innovations help us go about our lives easier and faster. They make tasks convenient and allow us to save time as we go about our way. In particular, these innovations help us to save resources. They help us to get more from whatever we have in hand. For instance, the combination of a paper weight with a table clock is a common example (Clark, 1995, pp. 4-16).

Discussion

Everyday innovations help us to get work done faster. For example, it is common to misplace a stapler. However, when the stapler gets combined with a punching machine, the utility of the instrument doubles and it is harder to replace such an instrument. Similarly, it is common to find individuals searching for pencil erasers and pencil sharpeners while using pencils. However, when the pencil sharpener and pencil eraser get combined to form one instrument, the individual saves time because both crucial elements remain handy. This discussion will shed light on the utility of similar innovations in the everyday life (Lipsitz, 1973, Pp.32).

A commonly found and extremely useful innovation is the combined keychain-cum-torch. These key chains double as torches and become extremely valuable and useful. The car keys are almost always hanging at a preset spot. This makes the torch just as easily accessible. Increasing innovation continues to challenge daily norms as they continue to make life easier. For instance, the power of a computer is now in a tablet. In fact, a tablet is faster and more interactive than a computer. Similarly, the combination of a cell phone, computer and the camera is perhaps the best invention ever made.
