INNOCENT PROJECT

Innocence Projects provide representation and / or use of surveys of inmates who say they're innocent of crimes for which they were convicted.( Dowell 43) There is now at least one innocence project serving each State (except in Oregon and Tennessee, as the program reorganized). Most of these innocence projects are new and overwhelmed by requests, and then the waiting time between application and acceptance is long. The unjustly convicted should not be deterred from applying to Innocence Projects of this fact, but should have realistic expectations regarding acceptance and time.
