Introduction

An information system (IS) is an organized set of resources (hardware, software, personnel, data and procedures) for grouping, classifying, processing and dissemination of information on a given environment. The use of computer, electronic and telecommunications make it possible to automate and computerize operations such as business processes especially in logistics. They are now widely used instead of conventional means such as forms on paper and the phone and this transformation is the origin of the notion of information system.

The company we have chosen to be discussed here is Tesco PLC. Tesco is an international distribution based primarily in the UK, in Ireland and Asia. Tesco is no. 1 British distribution group (2205 stores in the UK alone in 2008) and the 3rd World Group. Its activity revolves around three areas: distribution in the UK, international distribution and financial services. Currently, the top management of Tesco is highly concerned regarding their information systems which are being implemented in the company's systems. They have hired us as a consultant to check, monitor and implement some highly efficient information systems to improve decision making at all levels.

Issues of the information system

The information system is the vehicle of communication in the organization. Its structure consists of all resources (people, hardware, software) organized to: collect, store, process and communicate information. The information system coordinates through information activities of the organization and enables it to achieve its objectives. The information system is built around process "business" and its interactions, not just about databases or computer software. The information system must carry out the strategic alignment of business strategy by a management specific.

The governance of information systems or IT Governance (IT Governance) refers to the means of management and control information systems implemented in an organization to achieve its objectives. As such, IT governance is integral to the governance of the organization. Methods ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) and COBIT are such media to put an IF under control and make it evolve according to the strategy of the organization (Catherine 2008, 47).

Born in the fields of computing and telecommunications, the concept of IS now applies to all organizations, either they are private or public. The term information system has the following meanings:
