CHAPTER 01: INTRODUCTION

Introduction

With reference to the changing dynamics of the world today, it becomes relatively easier to understand the need to developing a system, a database or even a fully automated user interface, which can actually help reduce casualties and iterations in the business process. In addition, a system once installed can reduce downtime previously experienced and aid faster, much smoother processes for cost-effective business development.

As a practitioner and involved in understanding business processes, it becomes necessary for businessmen to try look out for different alternatives, which would actually help improve the current standing of the company in terms of business development and growth. Finally with the findings yielded from the research, it would actually help give both business students and businessmen an in-depth insight regarding the kind of measures and attempts, which could be feasible for their company.

Background of the Research

Information system (IS) is amongst the most important, yet the most innovative technologies to have existed in the industry. With information systems now paving way for progress and expansion, companies and individuals now look for better and much more cost-effective measures to add progress and success to the current business portfolio and at the same time creating much more financial avenues to aid their expansion (Bansal and Ross, 2000).

The role of information systems will be a crucial one. It will offer experience to define a specification, qualify all the technical and budgetary constraints to implement the solution that will allow us to achieve our goals. In addition, it will support, so partial or complete, in the study phase, design of software architecture, development, qualification and deployment of our solution. The information system will take proper care in the selection of technologies to implement our project. Thus, we can optimize the costs related to the activity of research and development and build a professional and sustainable solution (Beard & Rees, 2005).

Businesses have been established with a vision, a reason of existence. While people tend to make way for adopting different varieties of strategies and tactics to develop a stronger, long-term and competitive standing of them in the organization, several factors need to make way for consent and consideration.

Globalization has totally transformed the human life and organizational performances. The world has now become more than every enriching and challenging place to work with different cultures, nations and systems. Organizations that are already operating outside their home country are not limited to a few huge enterprises anymore.
