Abstract
The reason of this study is to discover the promise of a small-scale sport event as tourist attraction in Malaysia utilising (Leiper's 1990 12) tourist attraction scheme as framework. This paper accounts the outcomes of a study conducted on little scale happening sport tourism in Lake Kenyir Malaysia. The outcomes will show components for example competence mastery and thoughtful components are important variables which inspire people to request hardworking sport-oriented holidays and tourism place. On the other hand, passive sport tourists are inspired by social factors and they require getting away from over stimulating situations. The outcomes will be considered in lightweight of previous outcome in relative to sport tourist motivations and favoured place travelled to attributes. The promise and advantages of little scale sport events as tourist attraction in Malaysia will furthermore be considered in this paper as well as proposals for the local tourism authority.

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
Background of the study
One theory that can be utilised as a framework to realise how sport event may function as a tourist affinity is (Leiper 2004:168) tourist affinity system. According to Leiper, a tourist affinity is “a system comprising of three elements: a tourist or human element, a nucleus or centred element, and a marker or informative element. A tourist affinity comes into reality when the three elements are connected.” The first element comprises of people journeying away from dwelling in seek for persuading leisure related activities. (Coates and Humphreys 1999:601)
