Implementing Change: Implementing System of Armed Response Vehicles
Introduction
Implementing latest technologies to provide security to public in this age where the phenomenon of terrorism is prevalent would be very beneficial and helpful. This paper talks about one such attempt. This paper talks about implementation of armed response vehicles in various areas to provide security and prevent any mishap. This implementation would be a change in the system and implementing change is not an easy task. For a successful implementation to change the system one must rely on change models. These change models provide guidance in the implementation of change. In this paper the change of armed response vehicle is done by using Kotter's model of change.
Thesis Statement
The implementation of armed response vehicles through the change model of Kotter would become an easy and smooth process.
Discussion to Support Thesis Statement
The thesis statement suggests that implementation of armed response vehicles would increase the security level and it would bring positive changes regarding safety in society. In order to prove this statement it is important to first understand the system without armed response vehicles and then its implementation and advantages should be discussed. This discussion is undertaken in the following part of the paper.
Kotter's Change Model
According to Kotter, one must work hard to successfully implement change. When carefully planned and build a good foundation, the implementation of change may be much easier and can improve the chances of success. If you are too impatient, and if you expect results too soon, it is more likely to fail. Create a sense of urgency, hiring powerful leaders of change, building a vision and communicate it effectively, remove obstacles, create short-term wins, and build on the change are the keys for the smooth implementation of change. Following these keys would help in bringing the change (John, 1990).
