Imperialism is a policy by stronger nation to create the empire by dominating weaker nations economically, politically, culturally and/or militarily. It does not work for the most part. This strains the relations between the countries, and generally creates bad feelings. Almost every time when the United States got involved in foreign place it caused problems. The strained relations occurred during the period of the late eighteenth hundreds in Latin America and the Far East. Hawaii, for example, was annexed when the government, which has been in place there, was working greatly. Filipino people rebelled against the combined forces of the States when they became the territory of the United States, Cuba was helped towards independence by the U.S., but they also put an amendment to their constitution, which limits their participation in trade and other countries besides the U.S. is very strong. I agree with the statement: "Imperialism usually causes tension between the countries" (Buchanan, 1999).
