Purpose of the study
The main purpose of this study will be to understand the impact of politics, democracy and ethnic divisions in Nigeria. The rationale behind this study will be to understand the reason that how they impact each other.
Significance of the study
This paper examines the issue of ethnic conl1icts and thcir implications for democracy in Nigeria. Ethnic argument and doubt is recognized as the annoyance of previous democratic testing in Nigeria. Moreover, since 1980s, ethnicity in Nigeria has understood upsetting fresh dimensions. The most crucial of these arc the issues of marginalisation and agitations by ethnic minorities.
Hypothesis
Ethnic conflict has been rightly defined as one of the greatest obstacles to meaningful development in Africa. In Nigeria, this sort of competition and rivalry among various ethnic groups is seen as a product of colonial contact. In Nigeria, politics, democracy and ethnic division have a strong impact on each other.
Planned Structure
Chapter 1: Introduction
This section will be comprised of the purpose of the study, the rationale behind the study, and also this chapter will present the background of the study. In this chapter we will discuss the research questions which will be discussed in the research report.
Chapter 2: Literature Review
In this chapter we will give a brief history about the topic, here we will consider a brief history that what are the major political, democracy and ethnical issues in Nigeria, how do they leave impact on each other. For example, on a similar note, the 30- month senseless slaughter occasioned by the Nigerian civil war from 1967 to 1970 was anchored on ethnic rivalry. This was due to the efforts on the part of the predominantly Igbo peoples in the south-eastern region to carve out an indecent (nation for themselves. In fact, the history of present day Nigeria is prevalent with cases of ethno religious conflicts. Since the annulment of the 1993 elections, there have been increased demands and counter demands for marginalisa1ion by various ethnic groups in the country.
Chapter 3: Methodology
In this chapter we will discuss the methodology that which method we will follow in conducting this research, this will be either the qualitative methodology or the quantitative methodology. In this chapter we will also discuss the data collection tools, samples to be selected, and the assumptions and limitations and also the tools for conducting the research.
Chapter 4: Analysis & discussion
In this chapter we will discuss the outcomes of the data calculated in the third chapter of methodology. We will analyze the questionnaires and surveys results and will give it in the result format.
