Impact of Globalization on African Americans

Globalization is a recent phenomenon, which deeply marks the future economic world, and that will affect developing countries in a way decisive. Many writers and thinkers on the fate of civilization, have been incessantly repeating that the world is moving ever closer, the communications will have a major impact on patterns of life of the country that access to information will determine the development of nations, that mayor world has become a global village and that knowledge will be the largest resource nations. The reality is that economic globalization is no longer a theory, or a possible path of the economy and the market, but a specific event that is changing fully the economic strategies of all nations, redefining international relations and creating new and powerful cultural patterns. Globalization has made a profound impact of the African Americans.

There has been a great impact of globalized production on the employment and economic life of the black community. Deindustrialization is one aspect of a global economic restructuring that has resulted from new productive, information, communication, and computer technologies (Cross, 2008).  For those African Americans who have less than a college education, the loss of manufacturing jobs seriously undermines their opportunities for employment. A number of scholars have speculated that racial discrimination plays a role in the decisions regarding where new plants (and new jobs) are placed by foreign investors (David et al, 2006). Racism and discrimination is a complex problem of our society. It cannot be characterized placed into certain class as it has various complications and lasting effects. However, it is apparent that the ethical values generated the social concern which in turn has to be handled through the means of politics. Many of the people in America consider Asians, Hispanics, African Americans and other ethnic groups as beneath them. They think themselves as superiors and look down upon any individual who is slightly different from them. They establish exclusive clubs for all whites which make the people belonging to different ethnicity, left out. Many Asians, African Americans, Hispanics etc do not get respectable jobs. Even if they do get proper jobs they get lesser salaries and benefits as compared to the white people.

Globalization is also a source of business concern in advanced economies. To what extent is there really a risk, as it is believed that well-paid workers lose their jobs and the demand for less skilled workers decreases because of competition from low-wage economies? The changes experienced by advanced economies and societies they are directly the result of globalization. Racial discrimination in the workplace is getting worse after the global economic downturn, and raises serious questions about the policies that have followed over the last decade (Lechner, 2009). The African Americans face discrimination in the labor market and limited access to education and health care, even when the economy is doing well, whereas in times of crisis, these problems are compounded.
