This is a personal response paper based on illicit drug use among juveniles. Cannabis (including marijuana and hashish) is the most prevalent psychoactive substance (other than alcohol) used by adolescents in the United States. In 2007, the Monitoring the Future survey found that 42% of high school seniors, 31% of 10th graders, and 14% of 8th graders reported lifetime use.
