Abstract

The formation of the Department of Homeland Security introducing “homeland” is a new perception into American political rhetoric. The National Security Strategy is a document drawn up periodically by the executive branch of government of the United States indicates that in general the country's national security policy. The paper describes that currently; Homeland Security is organized in an inefficient manner and proved it ineffective in fulfilling their core responsibilities. Multiple agencies and departments have been established in this concern of national security that is increasingly creating more problems and confusions. However, the clear inadequacies of the Homeland Security Department have led some critics to consider it a political contrivance rather than a serious effort to meet the dangers of terrorism.

The current National Security Strategy was released on 16 March 2006. It contains a more favorable approach to multilateralism, while reiterating the U.S. commitment in support of democracy and combating terrorism.

Homeland Security

Homeland Security is the term used for the efforts a State make to maintain its security level and ensure a peaceful and terror-free environment in the country. Special attention was given to this term in the year 2011 when a significant event of terrorist attack took place in the United States. This measure for security is adopted by the State to take preventative measures for combating terrorism and recovering process after any damage is caused by terrorist attacks. Response to disasters and immigration checks is also covered under the scope of Homeland Security.
