In the first place, the criteria of the selection process for Good to Great companies have been mentioned. The systematic processes regarding the selection of various companies in the best category have been made. There is one famous group in which the top 500 companies are listed, and, it is known as Fortune 500. A tough procedure is adopted to include the best companies. All firms are assessed on various factors such as the goodwill or market value, profitability, size, production of quality items, delivery of exceptional service etc. Any factor has got immense importance and they play a significant role in moving the company's ranking to the group. The performance of the company matters a lot under such case. It is one of the most powerful tools for placing the company in the Fortune 500 list. However, the selection process has many steps, which the companies, need to pass before finally advancing to the Fortune 500 list. These steps will be discussed in detail in the following paragraphs. When an initial list is prepared, 1,435 companies are included in the list. Then the performance of the companies is monitored by many institutions in order to place them in the Fortune 500 list.
