Introduction

Home Depot is an American Trade Network, the largest on the planet to sell tools for the repair and building materials. The company's headquarters is located in the Vinings (Ga.). The company employs three thousand fifty five people. Network operates 2.144 stores in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and China.

The Home Depot is the second largest retail retailer in the U.S. after Wal-Mart and the third in the world after Wal-Mart.

Discuss how the leadership at Home Depot intended to use its organizational talent to gain a competitive advantage in the industry.

According to the theory of comparative advantage, when a country specializes in the production for which it is compared to its partners, the more advantage or least disadvantage, then it is assured of winning the game of international trade. As Home Depot are the second largest retail retailer in the U.S. after Wal-Mart and the third in the world after Wal-Mart. (Ronald 1987)

The theory of comparative advantage is one of the strongest arguments in favor of trade liberalization since it refutes the scientific protectionist argument that the most common free trade condemns any country cannot produce any good cheaper than its competitors. (Chang 2002) However, it only proves that free trade is preferable to autarky, not that it is superior to any commercial policy through. In fact, extensions of the theory of comparative advantages have led to a series of entries that qualify the traditional argument of free trade. (Chang 2008)
