The title “Work” refers to all of the jobs that the main character, Christie, has throughout the book. Though she does have a lot of jobs, (including actress, governess, seamstress, maid, companion, and Civil War nurse) this book isn't really about the work, it is more about Christie's search for a place to belong. Actually this book may have been better if it delved a little more into Christie's jobs. Though Louisa May Alcott writes interesting, sweet stories, her writing style is lacking.
