Palestine-Israel Conflict

Development of Zionism and Arab Nationalism in Late Ottoman Palestine

Introduction

The study provides a historical overview to the Israel Palestine conflict and further examines the political social and the cultural reflection from the late Ottoman Palestine. Along with the history of politics the study will also emphasize all the cultural and social aspects of conflicts. It brings the collection of perspectives which are often contradictorily over the conflicts, the underlying of the causes and the dynamics. The perspective to this does not only include two of the official narratives, Israeli and Palestinian, but also the voices from below of the marginalized groups.

The study gives a clear idea to the complexities of the Palestinian-Arab conflicts and highlights sure grasp over the history of Jewish community on Palestine which starts with the Old Yishuv and later with the period of Aliyyot and also through the consequent history of Israel (Epstein .Y. 1995: 558-561). This study describes various perspectives of the conflict that challenge the earlier assumptions and give a clear view as how various Zionism strands leave impacts over the development and policies of Israel. It also highlights the sense of the way in which it has marked the Israeli and Palestinian development of societies and the cultures.

The Israel-Palestinian conflict

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one of the most complex international scenario and the main key to Middle East instability. The territory known as Palestine is a matter of dispute for almost a century, and especially since the creation of the State of Israel in 1948 and the stillborn birth of Palestinian Arab state(Tamari S. 2000: 5-25).

In this conflict combine diverse elements. Born as the dispute over territory between two national movements with different national projects caused the intrusion of powers during the Cold War, eventually implicated other regional actors, causing wars, and was further complicated by intermixing ideologies, religion , control of natural resources (Epstein .Y. 1995: 558-561).

Over the years they have faced mainly two unequal forces: the State of Israel and a national liberation movement, played 30 years in the Organization for the Liberation of Palestine(Tamari S. 2000: 5-25). This inequality has enabled Israel occupied the territory that could be the basis of a Palestinian state and kept under military control to the indigenous Arab population violation of their fundamental rights. The occupation of the West Bank and Gaza, Israel has earned the condemnation of the international community, although it has been unable to enforce its resolutions (Stein R. L. 2005).

Besides the Palestinian issue has a regional dimension. The tension between Israel and its neighbors increased security risks in the area, as militarization, presence of Palestinian refugees and proliferation of armed groups(Khalidi R. 1991).

The resolution of the Palestinian issue is the key to peace in the region. Thus the peace process in the Middle East launched in 1991 has largely revolved around it. (Khalidi R. 1991).
