Introduction

The term ethnic minority is, traditionally used for groups that exhibit differing cultural preferences than that of the majority or those who have differing and diverse cultural and social origins. In the experimental field, ethnic minority referred to those individuals who have the nationality of another country. In some cases, it is the diverse racial background referred too. This leads to discrepancies when data collected to determine a country's population of ethnic minority as the definite identification of the term ethnic minority not done.

For instance, naturalized immigrants who are autochthonous minority and have been around for over hundred years are not, assimilated as natives and are considered second and third generations of immigrants. Matters then get complicated by those countries who use different experimental proof and definitions of what it is really is to be an ethnic minority. Nigerian Immigrants to Europe have the European citizens and residents included who were born in or along with Nigerian ancestors. Over the past few decades, this process has massively increased, though this phenomenon of immigration from Nigeria to Europe is not a new one and the largest migrating sources to the continent have always been both Africa and Asia (Woodson, 1916).

Over a million people migrate annually and there were around 299,000 applications for asylum in the year 2006, as Europe has known to be the main destination for the migrants from Africa worldwide. Majority of the Africans, who are living abroad the number being 4.6 million according to the International Organization for Migration, settled in Europe currently. However, the policy institute of migration believes that between seven to eight million Immigrants who are irregular Africans are also residing in the EU, the number varies according to the schemes of regularization in the member state. Two thirds of the African's in Europe is from the Northern parts of Africa specifically Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria (Eltis, D et.al, 2008).

Africans migrated into Italy originally from Africa and are now Italian residents, the number of residents in Italy who migrated was as high as 1,000,000 in the year2010. The Africans who migrated from North Africa into Italy numbered o be somewhere around 647,000 who are now official residents. From of the arrivals that entered Italy most of the Africans were from Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt and Algeria. The unofficial estimate that is, calculated said to be higher than the number calculated officially, as there are chances the officials miss some groups of individuals (Shelley & Winck, 2000).

Over the years, Italy has also received a large number of immigrants from Libya, Somalia, Eritrea and Ethiopia, these areas territory of the expatriates of Italy who were present particularly during the colonial period.
