High Blood Pressure in African American Men

Introduction

More than 50 million Americans have high blood pressure, and this condition affects nearly 1 billion people around the world. Less than half of these people are on medication, however, and, worse still, only about half of this group, their blood pressure is under good control of such agents. Older people are treated appropriately. Most people with high blood pressure are warm, soft, but even this condition requires attention (Klein, 25-89).

Age and sex

Age is a major risk factor for hypertension. Blood pressure increases with age among both men and women, and the risk of high blood pressure is almost 90%. Two-thirds of Americans 60 years have hypertension. Mature women (over 60 years old) are currently the highest rates of high blood pressure and hypertension, mortality is higher among women than men.

Ethnicity
