Introduction

Dementia is characterized by the development of multiple cognitive deficits, including memory (deficits in learning new information or in recalling previously learned information) and at least one of the following: language (word retrieval difficulties, defects in understanding complex commands, loss of semantic knowledge), perception (problems in the identification of objects or in the recognition of familiar places), praxis (impairment in the ability to carry out complex movements), and executive functions (inability to plan and organize behavior). Calculation ability defects and conceptual difficulties are also commonly found. These deficits are usually progressive but in some cases are static. Dementia also comprises personality and emotional changes. Lack of awareness of the cognitive defects is frequently found. Psychiatric symptoms such as delusional ideation and hallucinations also might develop. As the disease progresses, these deficits impair the social and occupational functioning of the individual.

Literature Review

Chapter-I will be the introduction while chapter-II will be the literature review part of the paper. It will totally based on the qualitative literature supported by the sholarly sources that will be mentioned in the list of references in the paper.

Methodology

Methodology refers to the procedures used to research an issue, a research question, or hypothesis. It is the way that a topic is investigated or researched. There have been many different methodologies used to investigate political communication, and there are many ways to classify these methodologies. For this paper, I will use both-qualitative and quantitative methodologies. All the qualitative and quantitative literature will be supported by the scholarly sources that will be mentioned in the list of references.

Result and Analysis

This will be the chapter four of the paper. This chapter will analyze the qualitative and quantitative data that will be presented in the paper.

Conclusion

The paper will conclude on chapter five and this will be the Conclusion of the paper. It will summarize all the materials presented in the paper.

There is a compelling argument for involving people with dementia and their carers as partners in the planning, delivery and evaluation of health and social care (Adams & Clarke, 1999). This article introduces a consumer-directed education innovation designed to improve user and carer involvement in primary care services.

Consumer involvement has many potential benefits for health care and is stated as being at the heart of the UK government's plans for modernizing the NHS. Partnership working is endorsed nationally, for example, through the Department of Health-funded review of patient and public involvement (Department of Health & Farrell, 2004) and patients are increasingly seen as consumers of services (Department of Health, 2004). The Expert Patient programme recognizes patients and their carers as experts in their own right (Department of Health, 2001), although its scope at present is limited to people with chronic physical conditions (Davidson, 2005).
