Link between diabetes mellitus and periodontal disease
Both diabetes mellitus and periodontal disease are chronicle diseases. Periodontal diseases occur in tissues supporting the teeth to the jaws. It is a chronic inflammatory disease. The causes for periodontal disease are inflammatory host response, gram-negative bacterial infections and asymptomatic response. It is one of the reasons for oral cavity disorders which affect huge number of population (Matthews, 2005).
