The health education is the process by which individuals or groups of people learn the risk factors for the promotion, maintenance or restoration of health .The health education is part of the common base of knowledge and skills. It builds on lessons, educational activities and school life. It is formalized in the proposed school and the school plan. In EPLE, the Committee of Health Education and Citizenship is implementing it. So that students can make informed and responsible choices, the health education they can:

to acquire knowledge, develop critical thinking,

to be able to make responsible choices,

to be independent.

Health education could mean many different things to each individual health educator in the United Kingdom. Because of this variation of understandings of what health education is and what should be taught, a coalition of health education organizations and professionals joined together to write the National Health Education Standards (NHES), that were originally published in 1995. These standards have written expectations for what students should know and be able to do by grades two, five, eight, and 12 to promote personal, family, and community health.

A high school health educator needs to be able to present a complete and effective health education curriculum regardless of potential constraints. One such constraint could include rural and small schools that lack funding and resources needed to provide an effective health education program. Another constraint could include new teachers who often feel overwhelmed by textbooks and resources given to them to use as resources for instruction. A final constraint could include times constraints based on only 6 one semester of health required in the high school setting. A pre-designed curriculum that fits into the time allotment that also addresses most key components of an effective health education curriculum would address all of these potential issues. It is essential that an effective health education curriculum be presented to high school students who are ready to enter adulthood. These health literate students become health literate adults. They in turn, become parents, it is likely that they will pass along their health habits to their children. This initiative will begin a new cycle of healthy and health literate individuals and communities.

Primary, Secondary And Tertiary Health Education

Primary: The education in which we know the diagnosis and it is the most cost-effective preventative.

Secondary: Secondary health education is the one in which there is no idea about the disease and it's neither symptoms nor the diagnosis.

Tertiary: When primary prevention has failed and secondary prevention has done all it can do to improve the patient's situation, tertiary prevention becomes the means to fight the disease.

Youth and young adults continue to engage in health-risk behaviours. Health education has the potential to help students maintain and improve their health, prevent disease, and reduce health-related risk behaviours. Schools play a critical role in promoting the health and safety of young people and helping them establish lifelong healthy behaviour patterns.
